I was reading through the March issue of Essence Magazine and I came across these amazing sisters Jessica and Stephanie Bauchum know as the "Bauchum sisters" of music both Texas native's. they own a full service business offering vocal, instrumental, performance and musical arrangements for artist, advertisers and business.
Here is our Exclusive:
KSY:Can you tell me about your musical background?
JB: I started learning to play music by ear from my
father and mother exposing me to organ and piano in the household.
Formal lessons began from my maternal grandmother at age 5.
SB: I started out singing in the youth choir at 3
and
learned the basics of piano from my Grandmother. Our Dad was the church
organist and our mother was the youth choir director. We really didn't
have a choice but to learn music!
KSY: Where does your passion for music come from?
JB: It comes from a musical surrounding by family. My father plays the organ. My mother plays the piano, conducts music ensembles in the church, and writes music. It is just apart of my genetic make up. I am music.
SB: Ditto to what Jess said! I can't help but to love music!
KSY:Stephanie tell us about your life changing decision to move to Dallas with your sister?
SB: Everything happened so fast. I was working a
job that I didn't enjoy and knew that something in my life had to
change. I felt like my time in Kansas City was up. I ended up quitting
my job in corporate america, booked a one way flight on a Wednesday and
was in Dallas that Friday. It was a faith step that I'm glad I made! I
wouldn't change anything.
JB(I know that this is Steph’s question but I wanted to chime in on this one) I was glad when she came to move down. We could then pursue our musical dreams together.

JB: We were already offering services in piano and
vocal lessons, music theory, singing and instrumental gigs as
individuals. I would have to attribute the idea to Stephanie. Being the
business minded person she is, it was her idea to come up with a
business that encompassed all of these elements under one name.
SB: I knew that I always wanted to have a career doing something that I loved. What better way then do something that comes natural and easy...that's music. We were already working as a business without the name. Lol. Once we realized that we were on to something, we decided to make it official and just go for it.
KSY:If you all where to give advice to someone who wanted to follow in your footsteps what would you tell them?
JB: Start right where you are. Write down your
vision. Make goals and take small steps toward that vision and watch
things come into fruition.
SB: Make sure you're doing something that you love to do. Never let not having enough money become a stumbling block. All you need is faith and your ideas, and God will show you how to make it into reality.
KSY:What is your vision for Bauchum Sisters music?
JB: I want this vision of Bauchum Sisters music to
be successful, so much so that you will hear this business name along
with companies like Sony, Verity, and listed in Forbes and Black
Enterprise magazines as a top business.
SB: Amen, Jessica. I see Bauchum Sisters Music as a very successful business that offers music services around the world. I see us working with all types of people, from locals to President Obama.
JB: We are a group of ladies that sing Gospel music. We sing at various events in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and have been blessed to sing in Tennessee and Missouri as well. This summer, we have set up multiple locations nation-wide to promote our debut album.
SB: I love our group! We've developed our own sound that will inspire everybody! I'm excited about where God is taking us!
KSY:Your singing group has 2 singles:By design and Jesus is on the main line will you follow these single's with a whole album? what can we expect on this new album?
We are in the works of completing an album for a June release date. If we could put a signature style on our music, it would be Gospel-Funk and Neo-worship (Neo-soul and worship combined).
KSY:Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now?
Five years from now, I see Bauchum Sisters Music as a full-time successful business with employees
